UOC condemns provocative statements of Metropolitan Alexander (Drabinko)

Meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC on May 25, 2018

If ignored, a disciplinary-canonical decision will be made. This is stated in the journal No. 14 of the session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church held on May 25, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The bishops decided to "call on Metropolitan Alexander (Drabinko) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevoye not to defame the high rank of the bishop he wears with his indecent behaviour and life, and also to refrain from any public appearances and statements that evoke indignation among the bishops, clergy and laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and entice the hearts of believers. If this fraternal admonition is ignored, the Holy Synod will be forced to accept another disciplinary-canonical decision.

Earlier, on April 23, on the air of the program "Svoboda Slova" ("Freedom of Speech") on ICTV, Metropolitan Alexander (Drabinko) of Pereyaslav-Khmelnitsky and Vishnevoye supported the idea of creating the SLC in Ukraine.

The regular meeting of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held on May 25 at the residence of the Primate of the UOC in the territory of the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.
