Poroshenko drums up Ukrainians to schismatic “cross procession”?
Fliers agitating for the SLC
In the propaganda campaign whirling in different cities, believers are invited to the "procession", which starts from the Kiev Shevchenko Park at 12:00.
Curiously, at 11:30 a "religious procession" of the Kyiv Patriarchate starts from the St. Vladimir Cathedral, which is supposed to reach Shevchenko Park at just about the same time – 12:00.
The text of the billboards uses a quotation from the speech of the head of state on July 15 to delivered at the “pilgrimage” event of the UGCC in Zarvanitsa: "Our army defends our land. Our language guides our heart. Our faith protects our soul."
Earlier in Kiev, there were installed city lights of an identical design with the same quotations of President Petro Poroshenko, dedicated to the army, religion and language.
His initiative to create a Single Local Orthodox Church in Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko coordinated with the heads of the UOC-KP Filaret and UAOC Makariy, who had signed an appeal to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew on granting the Tomos on autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church.
The head of the UOC-KP, who stated that the state cannot exist without the army and the Church, has repeatedly reported that he claims to be the head of the SLC.
In mid-April, Poroshenko addressed Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople with a petition to grant the Tomos on autocephaly to the Church of Ukraine and announced the creation of a Single Local Church. The Verkhovna Rada supported the appeal of the President. The Kyiv Patriarchate has already announced they see Filaret, anathematized by the canonical Church, as a head of the SLC.
