During the trip the hierarchs became familiar with the life of American Orthodox believers, reports the press service of the Vinnitsa eparchy.
On September 20, the bishops arrived at the St Nicholas Monastery of ROCOR in Fort Myers, Florida. Having familiarized themselves with the history of the monastery and communicated with the abbot of the monastery Archimandrite Alexander (Bel) and the local clergy, Metropolitans Simeon and Nikodim celebrated the all-night vigil on the occasion of the Nativity of the Most-Holy Theotokos in the monastery church.
As the UOJ reported, in mid-September, the head of the UOC KP Filaret paid a visit to the USA. During the trip, he met with representatives of the US authorities and also thanked the US for supporting Phanar in its efforts to grant the Tomos on autocephaly to the Ukrainian Church.
St. Nicholas Stavropegic Monastery in Fort Myers is the first monastery in Florida, located two hours away from Miami. The monastery was founded in 1978 with the blessing of Metropolitan Filaret (Voznesensky), First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia.
