Synod entrusts the Primate to notify Local Churches of pressure on UOC

Session of the Holy Synod of the UOC

On December 7, 2018, a final meeting of the Holy Synod of the UOC was held at the residence of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kiev and All Ukraine, reported the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

10 hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church discussed the results of the work of the Synodal institutions and anti-constitutional actions of politicians against the UOC.

Due to the violation of the constitutional rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Holy Synod entrusted His Beatitude Onufriy to send official informational letters, telling about the pressure on the clergy and laity, to the Local Orthodox Churches, the Human Rights Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, to international human rights organizations, as well as embassies accredited in Ukraine.

The head of the Law Department of the UOC, Protopriest Alexander Bakhov, was committed to "monitor and record violations of the rights of the clergy, laity, and institutions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church."

According to the UOJ, members of the Holy Synod did not bless the UOC believers to take part in the “unification council”.
