Liturgy in the Holy Assumption church of the Holy Assumption Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

On May 16, 2019, representatives of the Cyprus, Polish and Romanian Orthodox Churches visited the Holy Assumption Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, where they took part in a festive liturgy on the occasion of the feast day of St. Theodosius of the Kiev Caves, the UOC Information and Education Department reported.

Metropolitan Pavel (Lebed) of Vyshgorod and Chernobyl, the abbot of the monastery, celebrated a Liturgy in the Holy Assumption temple in con-celebration with UOC Chancellor Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich) of Borispol and Brovary, Archimandrite Nectarios (Bacopolos), clergyman of the Polish Orthodox Church Cornelius Wilkel, and representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

During the liturgy, the clergy and numerous pilgrims prayed particularly for peace in Ukraine and the unity of the Orthodox Church.

After the end of the service, the clerics and laity walked in a cross procession with the icon of St. Theodosius of Pechersk to the Far Caves, where they served a moleben service to the saint.

Recall that in the near future, the Primate of the Cyprus Orthodox Church, Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus, is going to discuss the Ukrainian religious conflict with the Primates of the Serbian, Bulgarian and Greek Orthodox Churches. He also plans to keep the head of the Albanian Orthodox Church, Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, informed on the progress of the dialogue.

On May 14, 2019, Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus is to meet with the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus, to propose to the Patriarch of Moscow a plan for solving the “Ukrainian church problem”.
