On June 25, 2019, at a briefing dedicated to the celebrations of the Heavenly Patron's Day of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, the representative of the Alexandrian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Meletios of Carthage stated that he, together with representatives of other Local Churches, intended to seek a solution to the church problem which exists in Ukraine.

“Our stay here is a reason to testify to our liturgical unity with the UOC and express support for the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Knowing very well the mentality and problems of the Ukrainian people, I have the intention, on the one hand, to pray to solve the church problem that worries Orthodox Christians in your country, and on the other hand, together with the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches, to find a solution to this problem.”

As reported earlier, on June 25, 2019, celebrations in honor of St. Onuphrius the Great were held at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. Representatives of 11 Local Orthodox Churches celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra, together with the Primate of the UOC Metropolitan Onuphry.
