The Ambassador of Ukraine to Greece Sergey Shutenko met with the Chairman of the Inter-Orthodox Committee of the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros and exchanged views with him regarding the process of recognizing the OCU by the Orthodox Church of Greece. This is reported on the Facebook page of the Embassy of Ukraine to the Greek Republic.
The parties also spoke on the topic of joint support for a summer school for Ukrainian clergy and theologians launched by the Metropolitanate this year.
We recall that the Primate of the Church of Greece did not take responsibility for the recognition of the OCU. According to media reports, the Greek Church will decide on the “Ukrainian issue” in October 2019.
