As of December 26, 2019, an electronic petition to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky No. 22/074484-ep on the prohibition of the use of “gender” concept in legislative acts, published on the website of the head of state, gained 25 thousand votes necessary for consideration, reports Gordon.
The petition was registered on September 28. By December 26, it had been signed by 25,298 people.
The initiators of the document propose "not to use the concept of ‘gender’, ‘sexual orientation’ and ‘gender identity’ in the Constitution of Ukraine and any other legislative formulations."
The petitioners also request that the Constitution be implemented “in terms of protecting the family and family values”, whereas the Strategy for the Introduction of Gender Equality and Non-Discrimination in Education “Education: Gender Dimension-2021”, which ‘neglects the right of parents to raise their children in accordance with their worldviews’, be repealed.”
It is also proposed to preserve immutable the norms that define marriage as a “family union of a woman and a man” and enshrine that persons of the same gender cannot be foster-parents.
The Office of the President should publish Zelensky’s response within 10 business days after the expiration date of the collection of signatures.
Recall that earlier the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches urged not to use gender ideology in education.
