A petition demanding to terminate the lease agreement for the complex of buildings of the Pochaiv Lavra with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was posted on the website of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The text of the petition states that the UOC "conducts explicit anti-Ukrainian propaganda activities and supports the enemy in every possible way."

“The complex of buildings of the Pochaiv Holy Dormition Lavra in the Ternopil region is still under the full authority of the Russian Orthodox Church despite numerous violations of the legislation on the protection of monuments. What is worth only the construction of a giant new building cathedral,” argue the supporters of terminating the lease agreement with the UOC.

As of January 23, 2023, the petition has 999 signatures.

As the UOJ reported, Sviatoslav Shevchuk said that the UGCC wants to pray at the Pochaiv Lavra, as he considers it his historical spiritual center.
