On, June 29, 2020, on the territory of the Holy Protection skete in the village of Marynivka, Odessa region, Odessa doctors received the highest awards of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and were handed over two Class B ambulances from the UOC and the Charity Foundation “Pokrov and Mercy”, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.
The awards to the doctors who have been struggling with the coronavirus pandemic all this time were presented by Metropolitan Agafangel of Odessa and Izmail, who noted their courage and self-sacrifice.
After the award ceremony, a concert was held with the participation of folk groups, Maxim Tkachuk, as well as the winner of the show “Voice of the Country”, Archpriest Alexander Klimenko, who himself was brought up in a surgeon's family.
The participants noted that so much attention and support had never been given to ordinary medical personnel. The ceremony was held with the observance of all norms of anti-epidemic safety and social distancing.
As reported earlier, the UOC hierarch donated an expensive operational monitor to the Zhytomyr hospital.
