Members of the Zaporizhzhia City Council will consider an electronic petition demanding the termination of all contracts of the city government and its subordinate structures with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The petition received the required number of votes – more than 500.

The text of the petition stresses that it is about the termination of "all types of contracts, where the parties are the local authorities, communal organizations of Zaporizhzhia and the UOC MP with all its structural subdivisions.

The author of the petition, Olha Kotuzniak, is sure that "the UOC MP are Moscow agents in cassocks who promote the ideas of the so-called 'Russian world' and harm our state and its interests”.

MPs will consider the petition at a meeting of a specialized commission and then it will be voted on at a session of the city council.

As reported, the Kyiv City Council urged the Cabinet of Ministers and the National Security and Defence Council to take urgent measures to terminate agreements with the UOC on the lease or use of religious buildings which are state-owned.
