The celebration of the 30th anniversary of granting the Letter of independence and self-governance to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II will take place on October 28, 2020.

His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry gave his blessing to hold solemn services at the cathedrals of the eparchies, reports the UOC Information and Education Department.

This decision was made due to the quarantine. Initially, the bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church were to gather for general celebrations at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Due to the spread of the coronavirus and related restrictions, the Cathedral Liturgy in Kyiv was cancelled.

Festive services in the eparchies will be held on October 28.
