The mayor of Kamyanets-Podilsky Mykhailo Positko, at an expanded meeting, declared the “inadmissibility” of holding a religious procession from Kamyanets to the Pochaiv Lavra, which has been taking place from August 19 to 25 for more than 200 years. Positko posted a video of the speech on Facebook.

He pointed out that the Khmelnytsky RMA had banned the religious procession.

According to him, the police and the SBU are carrying out "a number of measures to prevent the holding of mass events."

“We must do everything possible to prevent this (cross procession – Ed.) from happening. And there is information that despite the ban, such a provocative action is still planned. I think this is a provocation,” Positko said.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that Yelensky had promised to ensure a “proper” pilgrimage for 30,000 Hasidim to Uman.
