President Volodymyr Zelensky in his video message of 20 August thanked the Verkhovna Rada for the adoption of Bill 8371, which actually bans the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, and announced negotiations with representatives of the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

‘We will continue to strengthen Ukraine and our society,’ the President said of his intentions.

Earlier, the media, citing their sources, reported that a delegation of the Patriarchate of Constantinople will arrive in Kyiv on 20-21 August with the purpose to settle the religious situation in Ukraine. The delegation will include Archbishop Hilarion of Winnipeg, Metropolitan Job of Pisidia and the Rev. Patriarchal Deacon Epifanios Kamianovych.
