On August 21, 2021, at the prayer stand under the walls of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine against Patriarch Bartholomew’s arrival in the country, the leader of the NGO “Miriane” Vasily Makarovsky read out an appeal of UOC believers to the Phanar head, reports Strana.
Vasyl Makarovsky stressed that because of Patriarch Bartholomew’s actions to recognize the Ukrainian schismatics, "Ukraine is washed in tears and blood".
“You brought enmity, hatred and violence to our country! In your name, cruel militants seize temples, drive families of priests out of church houses, beat believers and commit other iniquities! Ukraine is washed in tears and blood from what you have brought to our country!"
Vasyl Makarovsky reminded Patriarch Bartholomew that due to the actions of the Phanar to legalize Ukrainian schismatics "144 churches were forcibly seized in our country". However, the “Miriane” leader noted, "we are building new ones next to them."
He called on the Phanar head to repentance "for encroaching on the leadership in the Church, which belongs to our Lord Jesus Christ alone, for striving to unite with Catholics, for the recognition of Ukrainian schismatics, for the seizure of our churches, for beating believers, for enmity and hatred" which Patriarch Bartholomew brought to Ukraine.
As reported, over 10,000 believers of the UOC gathered for the prayer standing at the walls of the Verkhovna Rada.
