The head of the Archdiocese of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the United States, Archbishop Elpidophoros (Lambriniadis), said Phanar supports vaccination and the use of masks, Kathimerini reports.
According to him, from the very beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, "we did not hesitate to take into account the advice of scientists in this field."
“A small minority may have strongly objected to this, but we turned to online services and adapted our practice for ordinances. We support the correct use of the mask and support vaccination as a means of protecting ourselves and as our moral obligation for Christians to protect others,” said the Phanar hierarch.
Earlier, the head of Phanar, Patriarch Bartholomew, said there is no excuse for those who refuse to be vaccinated.
