Pope Francis called on the Catholics of the Russian Federation, who are in the "space of the Eastern Christian tradition," to continue to take steps towards unity. He wrote about this in a special welcoming message on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of apostolic administrations for Catholics of the Latin rite in Russia, Vatican News reports.

The head of the RCC suggested that the Russian Catholic communities "be open, in obedience to the highest commandment of love, for meeting and solidarity with everyone, especially with the brothers and sisters of the Orthodox Church."

“For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body” (1 Cor. 12:13): in your space of the Eastern Christian tradition, it is important to continue to walk together with all Christian brothers and sisters, persistently asking the Lord for help in order to deepen our knowledge of each other and step by step to get closer to unity,” wrote Pope Francis.

Earlier, the UOJ wrote that the head of the DECR MP spoke about the possibility of a meeting between Patriarch Kirill and the Pope.
