ATHENS — Greece, alongside 27 Western nationshas urged Israel to halt its 21-month offensive in Gaza, criticizing the "inhumane killing" of over 800 Palestinians near aid distribution sites.

In a joint statement, the countries condemned the "drip feeding of aid" and highlighted the deaths of civilians, mostly near Gaza Humanitarian Foundation sites, which replaced UN-led aid efforts.

The statement, which is also backed by Britain, France, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan (among others), called Israel’s aid model "dangerous" and destabilizing.

Israel’s foreign ministry labeled the statement "disconnected from reality," arguing it fails to pressure Hamas. The US ambassador called it "disgusting."

The UN reports over 1,000 Palestinian deaths since May near aid sites, with Gaza’s Health Ministry noting 101 recent starvation deaths, including 80 children, amid looming famine risks.
