Romanian Church comments on terminated commemoration of Pat Kirill by UOC
Metropolitan Nifon (Mihăiță) of Targoviste, Vice-Moderator of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches, said that it is difficult to comment on the decision of the UOC hierarchs to stop the commemoration of Patriarch Kirill without being in Ukraine. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
“You know why (the head of the Russian Orthodox Church is not commemorated in the UOC – Ed.) – because Patriarch Kirill did not clearly condemn the war in Ukraine. But, as you know, there are always nuances of interpretation, and we must know the exact situation in order to judge it,” Metropolitan Nifon said at the press conference that ended the assembly.
Recall that in its final statement, the General Assembly of the WCC deplored the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
The UOJ also reported that the ROC did not support this document.
