UOJ seeks testimonials from those impacted by St. Olga of Alaska

The Union of Orthodox Journalists is asking for testimonials regarding St. Olga of Alaska to be submitted for an upcoming article.

Memories of those who knew her, miraculous intercessions, stories from the uncovering of her holy relics – all will be accepted as long as one follows these general guidelines:

  1. Email your story to info@uoj.news under the subject line: “St. Olga of Alaska Story Submission”
  2. Please include your name and know that, by submitting, you grant permission for your story to be used as part of the article or related content.
  3. Be honest and accurate. If you are unsure of specific details (e.g. dates or names), please say so rather than guess.
  4. Provide context: who, what, when, where, and why.
  5. Respect privacy. Only include names and identifying details of others if you have their permission. If referencing someone else, please use first names only (unless they are a public figure).
  6. Written submission should be in a Word document or email body – no PDFs or image scans.
  7.  If you have a relevant photo and are willing to share, please include it with a short caption and permission to publish.
  8. Please submit stories before the canonization celebrations begin. Deadline is Sunday, June 15.

Matushka Olga was numbered among the saints by the Holy Synod of Bishops of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) in November 2023, making her the first North American woman and the first Yup’ik person to be glorified as a saint in the Orthodox Church.

The schedule for her canonization begins on June 19 with a primatial all-night vigil with the rite of canonization in her home village of Kwethluk, Alaska.

A full schedule for the canonization of St. Olga of Alaska can be found here.
