The virtual presentation will be hosted by St. Michael Romanian Orthodox Church.
SOUTHBRIDGE, MA — Bishop Emilianos of Meloa, a hierarch of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and disciple of the renowned Elder Aimilianos of Simonopetra of blessed memory, is scheduled to give a talk on watchfulness and prayer on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. EST.
The presentation, virtually hosted by St. Michael Romanian Orthodox Church in Southbridge, Mass., will be held on Zoom. Those interested should email [email protected] and [email protected] for the link. The event will also be recorded and posted later on the church website.
As shared by the promotional materials for the presentation, Bishop Emilianos was a monk on Mount Athos for 14 years and a disciple of Elder Aimilianos of Simonopetra, who was abbot of the monastery, for 10 years. His Grace learned from the blessed elder for a decade and strives to bring the spirit of his teachings to people today.
"I loved my Elder so much that I had to become like him, at least spiritually; otherwise, it would have felt like I failed his love; I betrayed his love," a quote of Bishop Emilianos' shared by the church states. "Twenty years later, then known as Evagrios and serving as an Abbot in Australia, I unexpectedly received the call to become a bishop. Without being asked, I was bestowed the name of my beloved elder: 'Aimilianos.'"
