Abp. Elpidophoros celebrated Nativity at the Archdiocesan Cathedral, urging the faithful to offer faith, hope, and love to the newborn Christ.
NEW YORK — On December 24, 2025, His Eminence Abp. Elpidophoros of America celebrated the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy of the Nativity at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. He was joined by His Grace Bsp. Athenagoras of Nazianzos, His Grace Bsp. Nektarios of Diokleia, and the Cathedral Dean, V. Rev. Archimandrite Chrysostomos Gilbert.
In his homily, Abp. Elpidophoros reflected on the journey of the Magi, inviting the faithful to follow their path to Bethlehem and the Nativity Cave. He emphasized that, rather than material gifts, worshippers should offer their faith, hope, and love to the newborn Christ. “Faith so that we encounter His presence in the world, hope to make the world better, and love for God and one another,” he said, urging the congregation to open the “treasure-houses of our hearts” in devotion.
The liturgy brought together clergy and faithful in a spiritually rich celebration, highlighting the Incarnation as the central mystery of the Nativity feast and the guiding light for Christian life.
Previously, the UOJ reported on Abp. Elpidophoros' belief that Orthodox and Miaphysites hold the same beliefs in different ways.
