Jordanville Community Calls for Prayers for Archimandrite Theophylact
Archimandrite Theophylact of Holy Trinity Monastery in Jordanville is hospitalized after a minor stroke, and the Orthodox faithful are asked to pray for his recovery.
JORDANVILLE, NY — Archimandrite Theophylact, deputy abbot of Holy Trinity Monastery of ROCOR in Jordanville, New York, was hospitalized after suffering a minor stroke, according to a message shared on January 18 in the “I Love Jordanville” social media group. The monastic community has asked the faithful to offer prayers for his recovery.
A graduate of Holy Trinity Seminary’s Class of 1986, Archimandrite Theophylact has been a longtime member of the monastery brotherhood and has carried out numerous obediences over several decades. His service has included roles as monastery and seminary bookkeeper, dormitory inspector, seminary instructor in Liturgics, Sacred Art, and Music, and head of the monastery kitchen.
Currently serving as deputy abbot, he is also one of the monastery’s confessors alongside Bp. Luke. Reflecting on his vocation, Archimandrite Theophylact has spoken of discerning monastic life through theological study, ultimately embracing the ancient spiritual tradition of Holy Trinity Monastery rooted in Pochaev and the Kiev Caves.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Theodisiy was discharged from the hospital and was recovering from home.
