Orthodox Christian Deaf Association Announces 2026 Gathering
The OCDA will host a national conference in April 2026 focused on Deaf culture, accessibility, and new ASL liturgical signs in the Orthodox Church.
GREENVILLE, SC — The Orthodox Christian Deaf Association will host its upcoming OCDA Conference April 17–19, 2026, at St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church in Greenville, South Carolina. Centered on the theme “The Word Made Flesh,” the gathering will bring together Orthodox Deaf and hard-of-hearing faithful, clergy, families, and friends from across the nation for a weekend of fellowship, worship, and education.
The conference will explore how Deaf culture integrates into the life of the Orthodox Church while highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen parish accessibility. Participants will also witness the introduction of new American Sign Language signs developed for use in the Divine Liturgy—an initiative aimed at deepening liturgical participation and fostering fuller inclusion within worshiping communities.
