Survey Launched for New ROCOR Seminary in Europe
ROCOR has approved a new Russian-language seminary in Europe and launched a survey to guide its development ahead of a planned 2027 opening.
LONDON — The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) has blessed the establishment of a new Russian-language theological institute and seminary in Europe, with plans to begin instruction in autumn 2027. The institute will operate alongside the English-language seminary at Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary in Jordanville.
The new institution will be dedicated to St. John of Shanghai and San Francisco and aims to strengthen clergy formation and theological education for Russian-speaking faithful across Europe. Organizers describe the project as a significant step in preparing future priests and deepening theological life within the Church Abroad.
As academic programs are being developed, organizers have launched a preparatory survey to assess interest in various formats of study. Clergy and faithful are invited to participate, with responses helping shape the curriculum. The survey is available here.
Previously, the UOJ reported that ROCOR released a financial update on the restoration of the Kursk Root Icon residence.
