Only Romanian Orthodox Monastery in Canada Launches ‘Add Your Brick’ Campaign
Canada’s only Romanian Orthodox monastery moves forward with church construction after paying off its land.
ONTARIO, CANADA — The only Romanian Orthodox monastery in Canada has entered a new phase of development, as Mono Monastery begins preparations to build its church after fully paying off the property.
Hieromonk Policarp Athenagoras, the monastery’s abbot, announced that the first stage of establishing the community has been completed. Invoking the example of King Solomon, he said the faithful now seek to raise a house of prayer that will serve as an altar of sacrifice and a source of grace for the Romanian Orthodox in Canada.
The monastery, dedicated to the Holy Cross and St. Ephraim the New, is inviting supporters to “Add Your Brick” through donations, with a recommended minimum gift of $100. Benefactors will be commemorated at the Divine Liturgy. Future plans include a monastic residence and refectory to host agape meals and spiritual gatherings.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Fr. Peter Heers was received into the Romanian Metropolia.
