The Ukrainian Orthodox Church expands its liturgical life with newly approved akathists to early Western saints.

KYIV — The Synodal Liturgical Commission of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has published new liturgical texts following their approval by the Holy Synod, expanding resources available to clergy and faithful.

According to the Church’s Information Center, the newly released materials include three akathists dedicated to St. Edward the Confessor, St. Olaf, and St. Suniva. These saints, who lived in the first millennium, are venerated across the undivided Church, underscoring the universal character of Orthodox Christianity.

The full texts of the prayers and hymns have been made available via the Commission’s official Telegram channel, allowing for both parish and private devotional use. Church officials noted that the publication supports spiritual growth and helps broaden the liturgical tradition among the faithful.

Previously, the UOJ reported that a new English Akathist to St. Tikhon became available online.
