Igumen Raphael to Replace Fr. Sergius at Harrisburg Retreat

SOUTH CANAAN, PA — Igumen Raphael Vereshack, a hieromonk and member of the brotherhood of St. Tikhon’s Monastery in South Canaan, Pennsylvania, will lead a retreat at Christ the Saviour Church in Harrisburg on September 26, 2026.

The retreat was originally scheduled to be led by Archimandrite Sergius Bowyer, abbot of St. Tikhon’s Monastery, who is unable to attend because of illness. At his request, Fr. Raphael will lead the gathering in his place. The parish has asked the faithful to keep Fr. Sergius in their prayers.

Titled “Acquiring the Mind of Christ: Embracing the Vision of the Orthodox Church,” the retreat will focus on the Orthodox Christian calling to acquire the mind of Christ and embrace more fully the life and vision of the Church.

The lecture is scheduled for 1 to 3 p.m., with lunch beginning at noon. The parish said the gathering will provide an opportunity for spiritual reflection, instruction, and fellowship.

There is no cost to attend, although participants are encouraged to register in advance so the parish can prepare adequately for lunch. The retreat is open to the faithful of the Diocese and others interested in attending.
