Metr. Teodosije Visits St. Tikhon’s Monastery and Seminary in Pennsylvania

SOUTH CANAAN, PA — Metr. Teodosije of Raška-Prizren visited the Monastery of St. Tikhon of Zadonsk and St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Pennsylvania following his participation in the Feast of the Transfiguration in Milton, Canada. He was accompanied by Archimandrite Andrej, Abbot of the Monastery of Crna Reka.

At the seminary, the visitors were received by Abp. Michael of New York and New Jersey, rector of the institution, and Protopresbyter John Parker, its dean. Metr. Teodosije became the first person to sign the seminary’s new guestbook, which was established after the hosts encountered the Serbian tradition of recording visits to churches and holy sites.

The visitors also prayed in the Shrine of St. Nicholai, located in the room where St. Nicholai of Ohrid and Žiča spent his final years and reposed in 1956. They later visited the grave of Protopresbyter Alexander Schmemann at the monastery cemetery.

At the monastery, Metr. Teodosije and Archimandrite Andrej met Abbot Sergius and the community of approximately 20 monks. They also visited Archimandrite Nektarios Serfes, who has long supported the Monastery of Visoki Dečani and Serbian communities in Kosovo and Metohija through a charitable fund established in 1998.

Metr. Teodosije expressed gratitude to Fr. Nektarios for decades of assistance and emphasized the enduring spiritual bonds between Serbian and American Orthodox Christians. The visit concluded with hopes for deeper cooperation between the Diocese of Raška-Prizren, Visoki Dečani, and Orthodox institutions in America.
