The Holy Fire Descends in Jerusalem: God is With Us!

The Holy Fire, symbolizing the uncreated light of Christ’s Resurrection, once again illuminated the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Great Saturday.
Jerusalem—The annual miracle of the Holy Fire occurred on Great Saturday in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Patriarch Theophilus III of Jerusalem, following the established Orthodox ritual, emerged from the Holy Edicule (Kuvuklia) and distributed the Holy Fire to the faithful gathered in the church.
This miracle, signifying the uncreated light of Christ’s Resurrection, takes place solely on the eve of Orthodox Easter and only through the prayers of the Orthodox Patriarch of Jerusalem. It is a deeply revered event across the Orthodox Christian world, with delegations from canonical Orthodox Churches participating in the celebration and bringing the miraculous light to the faithful in their homelands.
A delegation from the St. Andrew the First-Called Foundation will transport the Holy Fire to Moscow, where it will be presented during the patriarchal Easter service at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. From there, the flame will be distributed to over 50 dioceses of the Russian Orthodox Church, including conflict-affected border regions like Bryansk, Belgorod, and Kursk.
