US Ambassador highlights faith and diplomacy during Palm Sunday observance in Athens.

ATHENS, GREECE — US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle marked Palm Sunday with a visit to one of the capital's most prominent Orthodox sites, describing the experience as deeply moving and spiritually significant.

The ambassador attended the service at the Holy Metropolitan Church of the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary alongside Fr. Thomas Synodinos and prominent Greek officials, including Minister Vasilis Kikilias and Culture Minister Lina Mendoni. The visit underscored the close cultural and diplomatic ties between the United States and Greece, particularly during significant religious observances.

Reflecting on the beginning of Holy Week, Guilfoyle emphasized shared values ​​of faith, community, and hope. She extended well wishes to those celebrating, encouraging reflection and unity during the sacred period leading up to Pascha.
