OCA Chicago Deanery Commences Holy Week Observances at the Cathedral
The Chicago Deanery upheld a nearly fifty-year tradition, gathering clergy and faithful for Bridegroom Matins to begin Holy Week together.
CHICAGO — On Sunday evening, April 5, the Chicago Deanery gathered at Holy Trinity Cathedral to begin Great and Holy Week with the traditional Bridegroom Matins. The service was led by His Eminence Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest, joined by local clergy.
During the service, Abp. Daniel delivered a sermon reflecting on the Gospel reading and the spiritual significance of the start of Holy Week, offering guidance and encouragement to the faithful as they entered the most sacred period of the liturgical year.
The deanery tradition of gathering for Bridegroom Matins at Holy Trinity Cathedral dates back nearly fifty years. The service continues to serve as a unifying moment for clergy and laity alike, reinforcing the bonds of community and shared devotion as participants prepare to journey through the solemnity of Holy Week.
Previously, the UOJ reported that Abp. Daniel led a spiritual journey through Romania.
