Orthodox Lenten Conference Scheduled for March in California
The Christian Life Lenten Conference will gather leading Orthodox clergy and scholars in Riverside this March to explore Christ-centered Christian ethics during Great and Holy Lent.
RIVERSIDE, CA — Orthodox Christians are invited to attend The Christian Life Lenten Conference, sponsored by Patristic Nectar, a two-day gathering focused on Orthodox Christian ethics, to be held March 13–14, 2026, at St. Andrew Orthodox Church in Riverside, California.
Scheduled during Great and Holy Lent, the conference will feature four prominent speakers: His Grace Bp. Vasily of San Francisco and the West; Fr. Demetrios Harper of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary; Dr. Timothy Patitsas of Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology; and Fr. Alexis Torrance of the University of Notre Dame. Through a series of lectures, the speakers will address topics including divine beauty, the commandments, virtue, social ethics, freedom, and obedience, presenting a vision of Christian life that is fully Christ-centered.
Organizers say the conference aims to present Orthodox ethics as neither legalistic nor permissive, but grounded in the person of Jesus Christ. Registration is open, with early-bird discounts available through December 31, 2025. The event will also be live-streamed.
Previously, the UOJ reported on Patristic Nectar's release of a new book on Elder Cleopa's life.
