Pat. Daniel of Bulgaria will make his first official visit to the Phanar this Nativity, concelebrating with the Ecumenical Patriarch.

ISTANBUL — Pat. Daniel of Bulgaria will make his first official visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate in Constantinople during the Christmas season, confirming an earlier report by OrthodoxTimes. The visit comes at the invitation of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and follows a decision of the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of Bulgaria.

The visit marks Pat. Daniel’s first trip to the Phanar since his election and enthronement more than a year ago. The two primates previously met privately in Thessaloniki in September while attending a theological conference, a meeting that paved the way for the visit.

Pat. Daniel’s stay will run from December 25 to December 28. On December 26, the Feast of the Synaxis of the Most Holy Theotokos, he will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with Patriarch Bartholomew at the Church of St. George. On December 27, he will preside over the Divine Liturgy at the Bulgarian Church of St. Stephen, known as the “Iron Church.”

Previously, the UOJ reported that the U.S. Consul General visited the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
