Prince El Hassan Meets Christian Leaders, Affirms Solidarity and Jerusalem’s Sacred Status
Prince El Hassan bin Talal met with Jordan’s Christian church leaders to mark Nativity, emphasizing human solidarity, equal citizenship, and Jordan’s custodianship of Jerusalem’s holy sites amid regional suffering.
AMMAN, JORDAN — A meeting between Prince El Hassan bin Talal and the heads and representatives of the Christian Churches in Jordan was held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Cathedral of the Presentation of the Lord in Amman, on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year. The gathering brought together church leaders, members of Christian communities, former ministers, and representatives of religious institutions, including His Eminence Archbishop Christophoros of Kyriakoupolis.
In his address, Prince El Hassan extended festive greetings while reflecting on the suffering in Gaza and the enduring centrality of Jerusalem in regional conscience and identity. He emphasized human solidarity as the core of faith and reaffirmed the importance of freedom of belief and equal citizenship as foundations of modern societies. The prince highlighted the Hashemite custodianship of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and Jordan’s historical role in safeguarding the city’s status through UNESCO. He also stressed the importance of supporting Jerusalem’s cultural heritage and educating youth about shared history and responsibility.
