Bp. Anthony led services at Holy Cross Chapel honoring Bp. Timothy and Fr. Tom Fitzgerald, remembering their decades of devoted service to the Church and HCHC.
BROOKLINE, MA — On Sunday, January 4, His Grace Bp. Anthony of Synada presided over the Hierarchical Orthros and Divine Liturgy at Holy Cross Chapel. The service was joined by the V. Rev. Archimandrite Bartholomew Mercado and Rev. Protopresbyter Nicholas Kastanas.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, Bp. Anthony and the clergy offered a 40-day memorial service for Bp. Timothy of Hexamilion and a one-year memorial for Fr. Tom Fitzgerald. Bp. Timothy, an alumnus of Holy Cross Hellenic College (HCHC), faithfully served the Metropolis of Chicago for decades, leaving a lasting spiritual legacy. Fr. Thomas, who served as Dean of Holy Cross, was recognized as the longest-serving professor in the institution’s history, dedicating nearly fifty years to teaching and mentoring generations of students.
The services honored their lifelong commitment to the Church and academia. The Holy Cross community prayed for the repose of their souls, affirming the Orthodox tradition: may their memories be eternal!
