Lawyers prevent planned hospital transfer; appellate court upholds 60-day extension of pre-trial detention.

DNIPRO — Due to the efforts of Metropolitan Arseniy’s legal team and the prayers of the faithful, no transfer from the pre-trial detention center took place on January 6, and authorities are not planning to move him in the near future. This was reported in a release from the Sviatohirsk Lavra.

The defense submitted a formal notice to the hospital stating that Metropolitan Arseniy has refused surgery at this time, emphasizing the need for prolonged inpatient treatment and rehabilitation before any surgical intervention, which should be conducted at a specialized medical facility in Kyiv. Following this submission, the planned removal of the hierarch from the detention center was averted.

Meanwhile, on January 5, the Dnipro Court of Appeal rejected the defense’s complaints against the December 6 ruling of the Chechelivskyi District Court, which extended Metropolitan Arseniy’s pre-trial detention by 60 days.

The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Tuesday, January 13, at 1:30 p.m., at the Chechelivskyi District Court.

The statement concludes with greetings for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ and an appeal to support the Lavra’s continued legal defense of Metropolitan Arseniy through voluntary donations.

Previously, UOJ reported that Metropolitan Arseniy's life was in danger due to the potential of forced medical intervention.
