Pro-Life Victory: State Stops Medicaid Payments for Abortions at Planned Parenthood
Alaska has finally cut Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood, halting taxpayer support for abortions while pro-life advocates hail a major victory.
JUNEAU, AK — After months of delay, Alaska has finally halted Medicaid funding to Planned Parenthood under the federal “Big Beautiful Bill” (H.R. 1), signed by President Trump last July. The law bars abortion-providing nonprofits from receiving Medicaid reimbursements, and Planned Parenthood affiliates in Alaska—part of a multi-state organization—are now temporarily ineligible for any Medicaid funding, including for non-abortion services.
Until November 5, 2025, Alaska continued subsidizing abortions through Medicaid, paying for 43% of all state-funded procedures—528 unborn babies in 2024 alone. Pro-life advocates, including Alaska Right to Life, pressed state officials to comply, ultimately prompting the halt.
While Medicaid payments prior to the cutoff may be rescinded, non-Planned Parenthood providers can still receive funding, as the law targets specific organizations. Planned Parenthood continues to benefit from non-Medicaid programs like cancer screenings.
The move represents a major pro-life victory and a significant financial blow to the abortion giant, with advocates urging permanent federal restrictions on all public funding.
