A newly released catechism by Archpriest Pavel Soucek offers a clear guide to the essentials of Orthodox Christian faith and practice.

CHESTERTON, IN — Ancient Faith Publishing has released a new catechetical book aimed at both new converts and longtime Orthodox Christians: The Essentials: An Orthodox Christian Catechism by the late Archpriest Pavel Soucek.

The slim volume offers a concise introduction to the fundamentals of the Orthodox faith. It explores topics including the Nicene Creed, the Holy Mysteries of the Church, and the role of Holy Scripture and Holy Tradition in Orthodox Christian life. The publisher describes the book as a guide for those seeking to understand how to fully participate in the life of the Church and grow spiritually.

Fr. Pavel served as an Orthodox priest for more than 25 years, ministering in several parishes and concluding his pastoral service at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church. Elevated to the rank of archpriest in 1992, he was later granted the right to wear the palitza in 2004. A skilled iconographer, musician, and linguist, he reposed in 2009.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Mother Siluana’s new book offered a path to healing and joy.
