OCAMPR Announces Major Conference on Trauma and Wholeness
An upcoming Orthodox conference will examine trauma through theology, pastoral care, and the search for spiritual and psychological healing.
MUNDELEIN, IL — A major interdisciplinary Orthodox conference focusing on trauma, healing, and reconciliation will take place September 17–19, 2026, at the University of St. Mary of the Lake, bringing together clergy, clinicians, and scholars to examine woundedness through the lens of the Orthodox Christian tradition.
Organized by the Orthodox Christian Association of Medicine, Psychology, and Religion (OCAMPR), the conference, titled “Trauma and Woundedness: Healing, Reconciliation, and Wholeness in the Orthodox Christian Tradition,” will explore physical, psychological, and spiritual trauma as a universal human reality that can disrupt relationships with God, self, and others. Organizers say sessions will emphasize the sacramental and communal life of the Church as a path toward healing and restoration.
Planned discussions will also address how professionals working in pastoral care, psychology, and ministry can engage in both personal healing and participation in what organizers describe as Christ’s redemptive work in the world. Registration for the event will open in May 2026.
The conference is hosted by OCAMPR, which highlights its blend of academic depth and spiritual focus in Orthodox pastoral care.
