Report: One in Seven Christian Colleges Linked to Abortion Providers
A new report finds over one in seven U.S. Christian colleges maintain ties to abortion providers, though some schools are cutting connections and promoting pro-life programs.
FREDERICKSBURG, VA — A new report from Students for Life of America’s Demetree Institute for Pro-Life Advancement reveals that 114 Christian colleges and universities in the U.S.—more than one in seven—maintain ties to abortion providers or otherwise support abortion-related activities.
The annual Christian Schools Project examined 725 institutions during the 2024–2025 academic year, excluding denominations that openly endorse abortion. Findings included schools referring students to Planned Parenthood as a “health resource,” promoting abortion-related internships, or highlighting abortion organizations in coursework. Over half of the denominations surveyed had at least one institution cited for an infraction.
Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins stressed that such connections conflict with Christian teaching, noting a nearly 39 percent increase in abortion-related support since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.
The report also identified positive trends, with a rise in schools earning top marks for supporting local pregnancy help centers and the severing of dozens of ties to abortion providers, reflecting growing accountability within Christian higher education.
The Demetree website has provides action steps that students, parents, alumni, and other concerned Christians can take to call these schools back to their stated missions.
