The Trump administration’s SBA is reviewing whether Planned Parenthood affiliates unlawfully received and retained $88 million in pandemic relief funds.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Small Business Administration (SBA) under President Donald Trump has launched a review into whether Planned Parenthood affiliates improperly received more than $88 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans during the COVID-19 pandemic. SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler said the affiliates were never eligible for the funds, citing federal affiliation rules that limit participation to organizations with fewer than 500 employees.

The SBA has sent letters to 38 Planned Parenthood Federation of America affiliates demanding documentation to justify their eligibility for the loans, many of which were later forgiven under the Biden administration. The review will examine whether affiliates misrepresented their organizational size or independence to qualify for pandemic relief.

If found ineligible, affiliates could be required to repay the loans and face civil or criminal penalties. The action comes during the week of the March for Life, as pro-life advocates gather in Washington to call for greater accountability in federal funding.

Previously, the UOJ reported that faith-based medical clinics are filling the void left by shuttered Planned Parenthood clinics.
