Bp. Vasily Leads Prayer at San Francisco 2026 Walk for Life
Bp. Vasily and Orthodox clergy led San Francisco’s 2026 Walk for Life, beginning with Divine Liturgy and prayers for unborn children.
SAN FRANCISCO — The 2026 Walk for Life in San Francisco began with a Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Cathedral, presided over by His Grace, Bp. Vasily of the Diocese of San Francisco and the West (OCA). Fr. Kirill Sokolov, Dean of the Cathedral, delivered the homily, setting a reflective tone for the day.
Bp. Vasily led a prayer service during the March, invoking God’s mercy for parents and the protection of unborn children. He prayed: “Furthermore, we pray for mothers and fathers who are tempted by the world or the devil to expose their unborn children to the instruments of torture and death, that the voices of darkness may be silenced, that peace and acceptance may reign, and that new life may be welcomed and nurtured. We pray thee, O most merciful Lord, hearken quickly and have mercy.” Fr. Josiah Trenham, spiritual advisor to Orthodox Christians for Life and board member, was also present.
The annual Walk for Life drew clergy, monastics, and laity in a unified pan-Orthodox witness for the sanctity of life.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a Northern Ireland woman faces court over praying outside of abortion clinic.
