The Holy Assumption Women’s Monastery Announced Lenten Retreat with Lecture from Bp. Vasily of San Francisco

CALISTOGA, CA — A pre-Lenten retreat titled “Lent as the School of Theology & Piety” will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, hosted by Holy Assumption Monastery and the Brannan Center in Calistoga. The retreat will feature His Grace Bp. Vasily of the Diocese of San Francisco and the West.

The day-long program begins with registration and hospitality at 9 a.m. at the Brannan Center, followed by a series of lectures throughout the day. Services include the Sixth Hour at the monastery chapel and an evening Vigil service. Lunch will be provided at the Brannan Center, located directly across from the monastery.

Organizers encourage participants to pre-register by January 31 with a suggested donation of $25, while same-day registration will be accepted if space permits. The retreat is open to all, regardless of ability to contribute, and aims to prepare the faithful spiritually for the coming of Great Lent.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Bp. Vasily returned to St. Vladimir's Seminary and blessed new icons.
