Over 100 Baptized in Orthodox Mission in DR Congo
More than 100 residents of a Congolese village entered the Orthodox Church through Baptism during the parish feast in Nkaga.
NKAGA, DR CONGO — More than 100 people were received into the Orthodox Church through holy Baptism this week in the Metropolis of Kinshasa of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, marking another significant moment in the Church’s missionary life in the region.
The sacrament was celebrated on Monday, February 2, by Metr. Theodosius of Kinshasa at the Church of the Presentation of the Lord in the village of Nkaga. Earlier that morning, the hierarch presided at the Divine Liturgy for the parish’s patronal feast.
Following the Liturgy, Metr. Theodosius, together with local clergy, baptized 105 catechumens. The village of Nkaga, where homes are built primarily of grass and mud, is also home to the St. Nektarios School, which serves as an important spiritual and educational center for the local population.
After the baptisms, the Metropolitan met with schoolchildren, offering words of encouragement and distributing gifts.
Previously, the UOJ reported that over 100 people were received into the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa.
