South Carolina Orthodox Community Seeks Donations After Church Fire
Following a fire at St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church, the Greenville community seeks donations of liturgical items to equip two parish chapels.
GREENVILLE, SC — Following a lightning strike that sparked a fire at St. John of the Ladder Orthodox Church, the local Orthodox community has launched a major effort to equip two fully functioning chapels as displaced parishioners are dispersed due to space constraints. The initiative seeks donations of liturgical items and furnishings to ensure these chapels can operate as long-term parish communities.
The community has published a detailed list of needed items, ranging from liturgical vessels, vestments, icons, and furnishings, to books and music. Donors are asked to submit photographs of their items and consider shipping logistics, though coordination will be managed directly with contributors.
The effort reflects the resilience and dedication of the Greenville Orthodox community in continuing sacramental life despite the recent fire. Clergy and faithful are encouraged to respond generously to help restore liturgical and parish life in the affected chapels.
Previously, the UOJ reported that a Romanian Orthodox parish launched a fundraiser after a fire.
