St. Paul the Apostle Monastery Canonically Established in Wisconsin
St. Paul the Apostle Monastery is canonically established in Boscobel, restoring Orthodox monastic life and offering sacred icons to the faithful.
BOSCOBEL, WI — With the blessing of Abp. Daniel of Chicago and the Midwest, a new monastic community, St. Paul the Apostle Monastery, has been canonically established at the former site of St. Isaac of Syria Skete in the Diocese of the Midwest. The decree, issued on March 11, 2026, restores a stable monastic presence at the historic property, continuing its nearly four-decade legacy of Orthodox monastic life in the region.
Hierodeacon Menas (Thomas) has been appointed Superior, charged with guiding the spiritual and administrative life of the brotherhood under the Archbishop’s canonical authority and with support from a Board of Trustees. In accordance with Orthodox monastic tradition, the community sustains itself through its own labor, including the production of mounted icon prints, which are available for prayer and devotion through the monastery’s website.
Abp. Daniel encourages clergy and faithful of the Diocese of the Midwest to keep the monastery in their prayers, asking God to bless its growth as a flourishing center of Orthodox witness and monastic life in the American Midwest.
