St. Sava Monastery Launches $6 Million Renovation Campaign
Faithful at St. Sava Monastery united behind a $6 million renovation project aimed at strengthening youth ministry and pilgrimage life.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — Parishioners gathered this past Sunday at St. Sava Monastery to deepen their understanding and support of the St. Sava Camp building renovation project, a major initiative aimed at strengthening the future of youth ministry and the wider Church community.
The day began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., prayerfully served by His Grace Bp. Serafim Baltic. Following the service, the faithful enjoyed a luncheon prepared in a spirit of fellowship. Parish priest Fr. Milos Živković introduced His Grace and thanked the Kolo and the Sveta Jelena KSS for their dedication and generous service.
During his presentation, Bp. Serafim outlined the $6 million campaign, detailing construction costs, furnishings, and long-term care. The renovation will include guest lodging, retreat and educational spaces, a community hall, summer-camp facilities, and outdoor enhancements. Organizers hope to complete the project by July 2026 in time for St. Mardarije Day.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the monastery would be restored as a spiritual and cultural hub.
