Serbian Orthodox Diocese Announces 2026 Great Lenten Retreat in Pittsburgh
The Serbian Orthodox Diocese’s 2026 Lenten Retreat will help faithful cultivate spiritual focus and resilience in a distracted world.
PITTSBURGH, PA — The Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Eastern America announced its 2026 Great Lenten Retreat, set for Saturday, March 21, at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral. The retreat will explore the theme “Awake, O My Soul: Great Lent in an Age of Distraction,” offering guidance for faithful navigating modern life’s spiritual challenges.
Three guest speakers are scheduled: Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Rodney Torbic, Abbess Christophora of the Orthodox Monastery of the Transfiguration in Ellwood City, PA, and Fr. Stefan Djoric. Their talks will address protecting the soul, cultivating prayer, and guarding the mind against idle curiosity and distraction, emphasizing watchfulness, repentance, and hope as participants prepare for Pascha.
The retreat will begin at 9:00 AM with registration and a Lenten breakfast, followed by morning and afternoon sessions, Q&A periods, and Lenten meals. Confession will be offered late afternoon, concluding with Great Vespers at 6:00 PM. The event aims to strengthen spiritual resilience amid contemporary pressures.
