Metr. Saba led a pilgrimage uniting clergy and seminarians in worship and reflection at St. Dumitru Monastery.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — His Eminence Metr. Saba Esper led a group of 80 clergymen, seminarians, and their families on a daylong pilgrimage to St. Dumitru Romanian Orthodox Monastery on Friday, March 27, offering a time of spiritual renewal during Great Lent.

The morning began with the celebration of the Presanctified Divine Liturgy in honor of the Saturday of the Akathist Hymn. The faithful gathered in prayer, marking the Lenten season with reverence and unity. Following the service, the monastery’s abbot, Archimandrite Jeremiah, delivered a reflection on humility and obedience, emphasizing how faith is strengthened through life’s trials and challenges.

Fr. Jeremiah encouraged pilgrims to adopt what he described as the “strategy of the children of God,” trusting in divine mercy and cultivating constant awareness of God’s presence. The day concluded with a shared meal in the monastery trapeza, fostering fellowship and strengthening bonds among clergy, seminarians, and their families.

Previously, the UOJ reported that Metr. Saba addressed Christ on Church failings and humility.
